Coaching

What is Coaching?Coaching

Coaching has been defined as "a process that enables learning and development to occur and thus performance to improve. To be successful a Coach requires a knowledge and understanding of process as well as the variety of styles, skills and techniques that are appropriate to the context in which the coaching takes place". Eric Parsloe, The Manager as Coach and Mentor (1999)

Your coach will observe, listen and ask questions to understand your situation. They will ask questions to help your thought processes in order to identify solutions and actions. You will be supported in setting goals and assessing how you are progressing. Throughout the process the coach will maintain unconditional positive regard, which ensures that the coach is constantly supportive and non-judgemental about your views, lifestyle and aspirations.

How can Coaching help?

How you feel about yourself has a dramatic impact on what you do and how you do it. When you are confident in yourself you are more likely to overcome obstacles, to aspire to greater things, to grow and to succeed.

Coaching can help using a personally tailored development plan. You can talk freely about potential barriers to success in complete confidence and in a non-judgmental environment. Coaching focuses on what you want to achieve allowing you to identify your own goals and to develop successful strategies to achieve them. You are in charge of your own coaching; we realise that you already know more about your own situation than anyone else. Coaching can facilitate learning new skills, improving existing ones and achieving success both personally and within an organisation.
